One of my first thoughts about Loyola’s food selection was, “Fuck, this is expensive.” Never did I imagine that $1500 on my meal plan wouldn’t last me until Christmas.
Ten dollars for chicken tenders and fries? Eight for a sub? How much was the pizza again? I'll try to eat healthy and go for a salad...oh wait that's 8 bucks too?
Fortunately, Baltimore has a plethora of cheap, wholesome Farmer’s markets that are within cab distance. Unfortunately, Loyola never advertises these because they don’t want to cannibalize their cut of the Sodexho profits.
Even if you’re a freshman, make it a point to check out one of these Farmer’s Markets (I recommend the Baltimore Farmer’s Market off of Saratoga St.) You’ll be amazed at the quality of the food and the lowness of their prices.
Otherwise you’ll be stuck at Primo’s or Boulder thinking about how you’re going to break it to your parents that you need another $500 on your card to last you until Christmas break…
